Our motto is ‘Sharp and waspish’. To set us apart from publishers who put out mawkish or gory romances, or navel-gazing literature in which every whiner in town tells the same old story until it becomes trite, or dull novels modelled on the basic series, or thrillers in which the same hackneyed trick is used over and over again: the token serial killer, without whom the authors seem incapable of creating the slightest thrill. In short, we are bored stiff. At Taos we don't claim we can do better. But we try to do something different, perhaps, to take our readers to forgotten or little-explored shores. To take them away from the commonplaces of contemporary production. With style and emotion, and above all the right pinch of spice to give the pages some flavour.
